Mac Computer Basics. (Help! For the Computer Shy). 104 min.
Okay, I Bought a Mac! Now What? (Help! For the Computer Shy). 113 min.
ea. vol: color. Michael Gorzka, Help! For the Computer Shy LLC, 2008. DVD $19.99. Public performance.
These two programs should alleviate any fear a new Mac user might encounter when trying to go wired. The simple presentation, featuring clear, colorful graphics, close-up photographs, and screen shots, assumes almost no prior knowledge of computers; definitions are given for the most basic of concepts. The pace makes it easy for a user to follow along. Both films are divided into segments that can be watched separately or in sequence. Okay, I Bought a Mac! covers everything from taking the computer out of the box to setting up email and an Internet connection. Mac Computer Basics demonstrates how to open and close programs, how to create and save documents, and how to use Mac's Spotlight feature. A valuable resource for the complete novice, these are the first two films in a series of five produced by Gorzka, founder of Help! For the Computer Shy. The web site (www.computershy.com) lists additional programs, including a series targeted to seniors. Recommended where interest warrants.

Hi Mike, I am 65 years old and last year we got a Windows Vista Dell computer and
I can receive attachments but when I forward them I don't get them to go thru.
I want to learn how to send attachments and photos as I send a lot of emails.
I can't read books good because of my eyes so i want dvds.
Could you recommend some so i can learn how to do this?
I have been recommended to you by Dell & Microsoft as they
said you could help with the DVDs.
Thank you, Marianne
I really thought [How to Sell on Ebay for the Computer Shy] was very well done. It gave every thing I had hoped for and more. I can't wait for the new version.

Dear Help for the Computer Shy, as part of the Maine Technology initiative, school teachers are now required to use Macintosh computers.
Since many of these teachers come from the Windows world, they are using your DVDs and books to
supplement their training and as a result are more effectively able to use the Mac computers
that the state has provided.
As a result the number of Mac tech support issues have been cut in half.

Your "Computer Comfort" and "Find it with
Google" DVDs are really helping my adult education students.

Dear Mike, I'd like to share these quotes from my 9 year old daughter: "I use computers at school but
sometimes find it hard to keep up with the teacher. I watched the DVD and
thought it was excellent that I could pause it whenever I needed to, I never
got left behind." "I really enjoyed doing it, I didn't need to have to ask
my mum or dad for any help!".

I think the DVD's are a breath
of fresh air especially for those who are not computer wizards, they enable
the user to really understand the basics of using different applications.

Dear Mike: just purchased help for my MAC last night after I found it when I checked on "google", asking help with using iMail
on our new MAC. Your book came up and I purchased it. I have been reading it throughout the day today & have already
picked up so many tips on how to better use this thing...I didn't even know what "text edit" was & was only using "pages". Just
wanted to say a preliminary thanks for putting together a "how-to" guide that actually works and is easy to comprehend. I
joined the Apple "one-to-one" program but would never even have thought of so many things I am now learning....

Good morning Mike. As an educator, I truly appreciate your learning videos. Transitioning from PC to Apple has been a nice challenge for me. I try to learn from many different sources. It's a welcomed convenience to view the videos on my DVD player at 4am!!! No interruptions at that time of day! Even though I have a pretty good handle on my iMac, your presentations still introduced me to some of the finer points on the Apple system.
Even retired, I still try to learn something new each day. And from you, I learned that learning can still be enjoyable. That was the key to my success as a teacher: teach your students to love learning. At home, in the classroom, out in nature, where ever you happen to be....let your senses lead you to "see" with new eyes every day.
Thanks again, Mike for sharing your computer knowledge.
Regards from the Pinelands of New Jersey,
Mary
