Top Ten Tips for Selling eBay

My eBay auctions tend to bring in a few more bucks than other eBay sellers get for the same auction items. Here's how I do it:

  1. Answer questions about your auction items promptly and politely (check your email several times a day when you have something for sale on eBay)
  2. Post your answers to auction questions to the auction page
  3. Don't inflate your shipping costs
  4. Describe the item as clearly as you can
  5. Be honest
  6. Make sure your auction photos show the auction item in its best light without hiding any flaws it may have
  7. Don't use reserve prices (they really annoy auction bidders and make you seem greedy)
  8. Start your eBay auction with a low bid (.99 or less) to encourage a "bidding frenzy"
  9. Start your auctions on Sunday afternoon or evening (Eastern standard time)
  10. Use the 7 day auction to maximize your item's visibility (10 days may try the patience of your bidders and make it seem "less urgent" to bid on your auction)
